5 Steps to Flawless Graphics

These days, graphics are king. No matter what type of event you're producing, audiences have come to expect only the best in high-quality graphics and branding. How can you be sure that your brand is represented the best way possible? Follow these five simple steps from the experts on the CDP Graphics Team to save time and money on your next job!

5 Steps to Flawless Graphics
Plan Ahead
A rushed job never turns out the way you want it. Plan ahead so that there is plenty of time for changes and fixes along the way. Make use of the print house's proof services so that you can check and double-check your graphics to ensure top quality before they end up in front of your clients.
Choose The Right Format
Always check with your print house to see what format they recommend. The last thing you want is to waste valuable time and money sending files the printer cannot open properly. Modern design technology allows you to save your artwork in countless ways. Make sure you use the right settings the first time — and your process will be quick and easy.
Maintain Picture Quality
When creating artwork that spans large areas, make a point to use vector-based designs whenever possible. This format allows you to edit and resize your graphics infinitely with no loss of quality. If you must use a JPEG or EPS, make sure to save the image in a high-resolution format to avoid that pesky pixelization that can plague your design.
Words Count Too
Your text is just as important as the picture! If your graphic includes any text, be sure to rasterize the fonts before you send it to a print house. Different computers have different font libraries and the one you chose may not stay the same when in the hands of your vendor. When you rasterize, you commit the fonts to an image so that you get consistent looks every time.
Save Often
Big graphics mean big files. Large image files can easily crash computer programs and systems due to their size. Make sure you protect your hard work by saving often and keeping backups whenever possible. The last thing you want is to lose days worth of work because of a costly program error!
